Collaborators

We strongly believe in the power of collaboration between people from all disciplines and walks of life. After all, mobility issues affects us all, and often in ways we’re not even aware of.  Many people have shared their knowledge and views to drive the foundation ahead – and we hope that many more will come forward with the ideas and enthusiasm we need to succeed.  Here are a few of our main collaborators whose significant contributions have helped to shape PAF.

Prof. Maria Attard

Maria Attard is the Head of Geography and the Director of the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the University of Malta. She specialises in urban transport, policy and project implementation. She has also coordinated the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Laboratory at the University of Malta for over 14 years and has subsequently published in the field of GIS education and more recently published work on Voluntary Geographic Information (VGI) and Transport. Between 2002-2009 she served as a consultant to Government on transport strategy and policy. She was involved in major transport projects and implemented road pricing, park and ride and pedestrianisation projects in the islands’ capital city Valletta. She studied at the University of Malta and completed her PhD in 2006 at UCL (London) and has published over 25 journal articles and book chapters in the areas of urban transport policy, GIS and human geography. She has contributed over 55 presentations in conferences and proceedings and has recently co-edited a book on Sustainable Urban Transport (published by Emerald) and journal special issues on urban transport policy. Maria is currently the co-chair of Cluster 2 Transport and Environment within the Network of European Communications and Transport Activities Research (NECTAR) and co-chair of SIG G3 and member of the Steering Committee of the World Conference for Transport Research Society (WCTRS).

Prof. Adrian Muscat

Adrian Muscat occupies the post of Associate Professor at the University of Malta, within the Faculty of Information and Communications Technology. His general education is in computing and electronics with a specialization in data-driven modeling and simulation. His research interests are in the development and application of machine learning models, discrete event simulation and optimization, mainly in the areas of transport and combined vision and language.  He is interested in demonstrating the use of ICT in both the study and implementation of transport policy. Prof Muscat is of the belief that ICT will transform the current archaic status quo in personal transport into the twenty first century necessity that calls for efficient real-time and customer-oriented services. In particular he has been studying Demand Responsive Personal Transport Systems for the last few years.

Konrad Pulé

Konrad Pulé is an accountant by profession with experience in the hospitality and transport sectors. He has been involved in land transport for the past 13 years and has worked on various transport projects in Malta. He was appointed as chief officer for land transport within the Authority for Transport in Malta in 2010 where he was responsible for the regulation of driver training, testing and licensing, vehicle registration, goods transport, and passenger transport. In 2015 he moved back to the private sector and took on the role of General Manager of the national public transportation company, Malta Public Transport with his main responsibility being to oversee the transformation of the public transport service.

Ranier Fsadni

Geoffrey Debono

Geoffrey came to senior management in 2005, at the age of 21, when he took over the reins of Michael Debono Ltd (MDL) due to the early demise of his father. MDL is the sole representative of Toyota Motor Corporation in Malta and in 1960 was Toyota’s first appointed distributor in Europe. Geoffrey immediately recruited very capable personnel and forged a powerful management team which now directly handles the day-to-day operation with him as Managing Director.

It was his vision that gave birth to PAF in 2017.
